Jersey: International role
|
The first meeting of a group that will advise Jersey's States on its policies for the environment has taken place.
Twelve people who work in areas connected to environmental issues have been selected for a new Environmental Forum.
Forum member, marine biologist Andrew Syvret, said: "To a degree I feel an obligation because the island is such a wonderful place to live.
"We need to fight its corner in terms of preserving its natural areas.
"But also in a wider perspective, Jersey has a role internationally.
"We can prove experiments in environmental policy work here or otherwise, so really it was an opportunity, I thought, that needed to be seized."
