Factory fire blacks out village
firefighters at the Rutland factory
The fire broke out on Thursday morning
Fire fighters tackling a fire at an aromatherapy factory say they will be there until at least Friday morning.

The fire has been contained but the oils are still burning at FPI Sales in Essendine in Rutland.

Crews from Stamford, Market Deeping, Bourne and Corby Glen are among 70 firefighters at the scene.

Residents are being advised to stay indoors and keep their doors and windows shut.

Very relaxed

Firefighters were called to the Meadow Park Industrial Estate on Bourne Road at 0430 BST on Thursday.

The fire service says it does not believe the fire to be toxic, but due to large amounts of smoke, it is urging local people to stay inside.

No one has yet been evacuated, but roads in the vicinity of the fire have been closed.

There is no electricity in the village as it was turned off by the electricity company as a precaution.

A police source said: "It is aromatherapy oils that's burning so if the smoke's burning in your direction prepare to be very relaxed."

Damage to the warehouse is estimated to be at least £6m.
