Man denies cottage raid
A man was tied up and threatened with an axe by a gang of burglars who forced their way into his cottage in Penrith, a court heard.

Electrical equipment worth £1,200 was stolen from the house in Weight's Yard off Burrowgate during the burglary, on 25 March 2003, Carlisle Crown Court was told.

Graham Boyle, 20, of Spencer Street in Carlisle has pleaded not guilty to aggravated burglary.

He has also denied burgling a block of student flats in Stanwix Bank in Carlisle while armed with a knife.

In addition, a 15-year-old boy has pleaded not guilty to four burglaries and four robberies.

The trial continues.
