'We'll prove big cats roam UK'

The society claims a big cat was seen in Noss Mayo

Members of the British Big Cats Society are holding their annual general meeting in Devon.

The society, gathering at the Dartmoor Wildlife Park at Sparkwell, will be unveiling new evidence which it says proves without doubt that big cats are roaming Britain.

Society founder Danny Bamping, from Mutley in Plymouth, says there have recently been a number of big cat sightings in South Devon - around Kingsbridge, South Brent, Noss Mayo and Newton Ferrers.

Some of the most notorious big cat sightings - including the Beast of Bodmin - have been in the West Country.

The document of evidence, produced by the Society, will be delivered later this year to the Department of Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra), and police forces.

Defra has always said that there is no proof that big cats are roaming the British countryside.
