Alert after stranger scares boy

Parents are being warned to vigilant after a young boy was left feeling panicked after being approached by a man in a south Wales Valleys town.

The man, who did not try to physically grab the child, spoke to the boy outside a video shop in Tonyrefail.

A spokesman for the South Wales force said: "A young boy was approached by a stranger.

"A brief verbal exchange followed in which there was no physical contact but the child was stressed by the ordeal and the matter was reported to the police."

He said that parents were being urged to be remain vigilant.

Police investigating the incident are appealing for a woman who was in Mill Street at the time to come forward.

Officers believe that she could hold information which can help with their inquiries.

She is described as having short hair, wearing a purple top and driving a green car.

Detectives are asking for the woman or anyone who knows her identity to contact CID officers in Talbot Green.

They are also appealing for anyone who may have seen the incident or has any information to come forward.
