Police in Sri Lanka say they have arrested 118 Indians and eight Pakistanis who, they say, were trying to use the island as a transit point in their attempt to immigrate illegally to Europe.
A spokesman for the police said the men were arrested after a raid on three separate hideouts in the far south of the island.
This is the second time in the last two months that suspected illegal migrants have been caught by the Sri Lankan police.
More than 250 Pakistanis accused of attempting a similar journey were arrested on board a ship off the southern coast of Sri Lanka in June.
