A £100,000 reward has been offered in an effort to catch those responsible for the murder of a Birmingham businessman.

The money has been put up by friends and business associates of Naveed Saleem, 32, who was found stabbed in the Moseley area of the city last week.

Mr Saleem's body was discovered slumped in the driver's seat of his Range Rover in Wellesley Gardens at about 0730 BST on 26 August.

His parents, Mohammed and Surriya Saleem, joined detectives from West Midlands Police at a news conference on Wednesday to appeal for help and to offer the reward.

Visited fiancée

Mrs Saleem said: "Our family has been devastated by the murder of Naveed.

Surriya Saleem
Surriya Saleem said the family is devastated
"He was a good, hard-working man, an intelligent man, and our lives will never be the same now that he has been taken from us.

"He was successful in business and had made many friends.

"He would help anyone who was in trouble or had difficulties.

"Now we need help to find out who killed him. Please, please, please, we need to find out what happened and get justice for Naveed."

It wasn't a random attack
Detective Chief Inspector Nigel Rock

Detective Chief Inspector Nigel Rock said officers had established that the victim, from Hall Green, Birmingham, had been to see his fiancée, who lives in Moseley, and had left her address at about 1am on the day his body was found.

It is believed he was intending to return to his family home, where he lived with his parents and other relatives.

Detectives are keen to hear from anyone with information about a blue saloon car containing three or four men, which is thought to have been following the Range Rover shortly before the murder.

"I believe this was a targeted attack. It wasn't a random attack," Mr Rock said.

"I do not think robbery was a motive. I think the answer lies somewhere in Naveed's business or social life."
