Plans to turn a Shropshire hotel into a home for children with behavioural and learning difficulties are being met with opposition.
A company called Young Options Limited wants to use the Cumberland Hotel in Broseley as a residential centre for up to six youngsters.
About 100 people are objecting to the plans, fearing there would be an increase in crime and if they are approved.
Broseley Town Council is also against the proposals on the grounds that the lack of a hotel could affect tourism in the area.
The Cumberland stopped trading on the 31 May and is being sold as a development opportunity rather than a going concern.
A decision is expected to be made by Bridgnorth District Council on Monday.
