David Milner faces nine charges

A 46-year-old divorcee who went missing with a schoolgirl has been remanded in custody by magistrates.

David Milner, of Victoria Street, Gillingham, Kent, faces one charge of abduction in relation to the disappearance of the 14-year-old and a further eight charges.

Mr Milner, who was being held at a police station in Chatham, Kent, appeared before Medway Magistrates Court on Wednesday morning.

He had been brought back under police escort from Berriedale, in the Scottish Highlands, on Monday after being tracked down by police.

The pair sparked a nationwide search when they disappeared from their homes in Gillingham last Thursday.

The girl was reunited with her mother on Monday.
