Man jailed for heroin supply
Heroin
The court heard Maszaros was being used as a heroin courier

A man from Wigton has been jailed after being caught with £17,000 of heroin.

He was arrested only weeks after completing a prison sentence for previous drugs offences.

At Carlisle Crown Court on Thursday, Bela Meszaros, 40, admitted possessing heroin with intent to supply the Class A drug.

The court heard he was acting as a courier, bringing the drug from Liverpool to Cumbria where it was to be sold.

Meszaros, formerly of Beech Croft in Wigton, was selling the drug to repay debts to dealers in Merseyside.

He was sentenced to five-and-a half years in prison and ordered to serve the remaining 140 days of his previous sentence, from which he was out on licence at the time he was caught.
