Search for missing diver called off
Lifeboat
Holyhead coastguards are coordinating the search
Rescue teams have called off a search overnight for a diver who has gone missing off the north coast of Anglesey.

The Moelfre and Holyhead all-weather lifeboats, a helicopter from RAF Valley and coastguard teams had been looking for the 43-year-old man.

He was reported missing at about 1600 BST on Thursday three miles from Point Lynas near Amlwch where he had been diving on a wreck, the Cambank, with companions who included his brother.

Coastguards will decide at first light whether or not to resume the search

All the other divers returned to their boat. The missing man's brother raised the alarm when they became separated.

A request was made for an Irish coastguard helicopter to aid the search.

Coastguards at Holyhead, who are coordinating the search, say weather conditions were atrocious with visibility down to 50ft on land and 2 miles out to sea due to fog.

But they said that sea conditions were calm.

The high-speed ferry Super Sea Cat also assisted in the operation
