Detectives are questioning a man about the murder of a woman who was run over as she tried to stop a carjacker.

June Everitt, 52, of Luton, Bedfordshire, was run down by a thief who took her car as she unloaded shopping at garages near her home in Ridgeway Road in the town on Thursday 3 July.

The pharmaceutical worker was left with multiple injuries after the thief reversed over her as he made his getaway in her black Renault Megane.

She died later in hospital.

A 29-year-old man from St Albans, Hertfordshire, who has not been named, is being questioned by Bedfordshire detectives.

A police spokeswoman said: "Bedfordshire Police have arrested a man in connection with the murder of June Everitt.

"The 29-year-old man from St Albans is currently being questioned by detectives at Luton police station."

He is believed to be the same man who was arrested a week ago and released on police bail.
