Siege man held

Police have arrested a man following an armed siege in Union Street , Torquay.

Part of the main shopping street was sealed off after a man was reported to be wielding a sword and knives.

Armed units were sent to the scene where a man had blockaded himself in a flat above a shop.

No-one else is believed to have been involved.

Police were alerted at about 1400 BST after a man began throwing objects, including a bed, from the window of the flat.

Some of the objects were hitting passing vehicles.
