Economic development chief quits
One of Jersey's most senior civil servants has resigned.

Dr Clive Swinnerton is standing down as chief officer of the Economic Development Department for personal reasons and plans to move to Spain.

Dr Swinnerton came to Jersey in 1997 and for four years he was chief of the then Public Services Committee.

He moved to the Economic and Commercial Development Department that supported the Industries Committee instead of retiring as planned in November 2002.

He then became interim chief officer of Economic Development when government departments were resuffled last year.

But it was only a temporary position until a permanent chief could be found.

Dr Swinnerton is due to leave Jersey at the end of October.
