Ms Hughes' disappearance is "out of character"

Police in Merseyside are trying to trace a woman who has gone missing with her 20-month-old son.

Paula Hughes and her son Rhys have not been seen they left their home in Wirral on Wednesday.

Ms Hughes' disappearance, at 0945 BST, is "out of character", according to Merseyside Police.

The 25-year-old usually speaks to her parents on a daily basis, but they have told officers she has not been in touch.

Ms Hughes is originally from the West Derby area of Liverpool, but recently moved with Rhys to Rock Ferry.

She is described as white, of slim build, about 5ft 8ins tall and with fair hair and brown eyes. She was wearing blue jeans and a t-shirt when last seen.

Rhys has fair hair and a fair complexion. It is not known what he was wearing when he went missing.

Anyone who has seen Ms Hughes and Rhys should contact police or Crimestoppers.
