Excerpts: 'Saddam message'
Saddam Hussein
Saddam Hussein: Not seen in public since Baghdad fell on 9 April

Dubai-based Arabic television channel al-Arabiya has broadcast an audiotape of a speech which it says is the voice of Saddam Hussein.

It was aired on the 35th anniversary of the seizure of power by Saddam's Baath Party in Iraq.

"Iraq is the latest chain in the aggression and evil led by Zionism. The US and Britain executed the debased duty on its [Zionism] behalf and on behalf of others who shamefully co-operated with them.

"Many cards have been exposed and, with God's help, other cards will be exposed. They are all devoid of any endearing meaning at any level and according to any national or human norms.

'Liars'

"What will the two liars, Bush and Blair, say to their people and to humanity after this? What will the troop of liars who supported them say?

The only genuine solution is to resist the occupation through jihad in order to defeat the occupiers and expel them
"What will they tell the world after they wove the scenario of lies against Iraq's people, leadership, and civilisation in this age, and against its ancient civilisation?

"It transpired that their statements were false and lies, and that the lies included in them were known to the US president and the British prime minister when they decided to stage war and aggression...

"O great people; O faithful men in the ranks of our valiant armed forces; O faithful women: It is a new phase to evoke a further and fresh resolve based on the meanings of the faith that brought about the July Revolution...

"It is a new stage to purify the soul from all the impurities, which might have also affected some people who were in power...

'Administration of evil'

"O great people: The administration of occupation and evil had issued its orders according to the instructions of Washington, Tel Aviv, and London.

What could those whom the foreign occupier appoints offer to the people and homeland, unless their offerings correspond to the will of the occupation?
"It appointed some of those who follow its orders in line with a despicable division of great Iraq. By so doing, the occupiers have revealed part of their intentions and schemes to divide Iraq.

"We are certain that our glorious, vigilant and great people, who rejected and resisted occupation, will reject all orders by the colonialists and consider them the natural result of the colonialists' plans and schemes, as well as the schemes of the evil aggressors...

"What could those whom the foreign occupier appoints offer to the people and homeland, unless their offerings correspond to the will of the occupation?

"They are appointed by the will of the foreigner. Hence, they serve the foreign occupier and are not servants of the people nor masters in the homeland...

"The foreign occupier occupied Iraq to weaken it and destroy its will, its achievements, its presence and future. Therefore anything that comes from it aims at weakening Iraq.

"The only genuine solution that does not make those who implement it regret it is to resist the occupation through jihad in order to defeat the occupiers and expel them outside Iraq...

"Long live the principles of the July revolution and the great and brave revolution of July."
