Restaurant boss charged over staff
The director of a Liverpool restaurant has been charged by police with smuggling people in to the UK.

Hung Chung Ip, 43, runs the popular Chung Ku Chinese restaurant on the waterfront at Otterspool Promenade.

Mr Ip was arrested by Merseyside Police on Wednesday and charged with the facilitation of illegal immigration and with obtaining leave to enter the UK by deception.

His restaurant has spectacular views across the River Mersey and has become a popular haunt with local business leaders and celebrities.

A police spokeswoman said: "We can confirm that the charges relate to people working in the restaurant."

Mr Ip, from Northumberland Street, Toxteth, has been bailed and is due to appear before magistrates next week.
