Soldier found dead in barracks
Soldiers on exercise
A teenage soldier has been found dead at his barracks in Aldershot.

Robert Hugh Jones, 19, from Llangefni on Anglesey was found dead in his regiment's base at Mons Barracks on Friday morning.

He was a member of the 1st Battalion of the Royal Welch Fusiliers.

Hampshire Police have confirmed they have been investigating Fusilier Jones' death.

But they say there are no suspicious circumstances.

Major Nick Lock, Mr Jones's superior officer, said: "Fusilier Robert Jones was a bright and popular member of B company 1st Battalion Royal Welch Fusiliers.

"He had served in the battalion for two years and all of this time was spent in B company.

"During this time he had served in Northern Ireland and travelled to Kenya on exercises with the battalion.

"The members of B company are deeply shocked by the death of Robert and our thoughts at this time are very much with the members of his family.

"Both his family and close friends within the company are being helped through this difficult time."

The coroner has been informed and an inquest will be held.

The MoD is not releasing any further details of his death.
