Man in court over police stabbing

A 22-year-old man has appeared in court charged with the attempted murder of a police officer.

Sergeant Jason Holford was taken to hospital with wounds to the head, chest and arm after an incident on Saturday at Totland Close in Farnborough, Hampshire, when he tried to arrest a man.

John Malcolm Fraser, who is unemployed and of no fixed address, was remanded in custody by magistrates in Aldershot.

Mr Fraser will now appear at Winchester Crown Court on 21 July for a preliminary hearing.
