Police have named the five people who died when a car plunged 40ft from a road intersection in Leeds.

They were in a Vauxhall Cavalier which was going towards the A58 inner ring road when it left the carriageway and fell on to the slip road below.

More than 20 firefighters fought to free the casualties using airbags to raise the shattered wreckage of the vehicle.

Witnesses said the car was travelling at high speed before the accident at 0150 BST on Wednesday.

Victims named

The driver of the vehicle has been named as 32-year-old James Cummins, of Wensleydale Rise, Bramley, Leeds.
