Festival appeal for murdered nurse

Officers investigating the killing of a Filipino nurse in Greater Manchester are travelling to a festival to appeal for information on her murder.

Debbie Remorozo, 26, was found stabbed to death at her flat in December last year, after leaving her shift at the Royal Oldham Hospital.

Detectives are travelling to the Filipina Barrio Fiesta in the London Borough of Hounslow this weekend to appeal to the Filipino community.

The fiesta is an annual event which attracts about 60,000 Filipinos.

They will be handing out information leaflets written in Tagalog - one of the native languages of the Philippines.

A reward of £10,000 is being offered for information leading to the arrest and conviction of Miss Remorozo's killer.

Detective Superintendent Steven Heywood, of Greater Manchester Police, said: "We know that many Filipino nurses move around the country working at different hospitals and we are using the fiesta as an opportunity to reach as many people who may have known or worked with Debbie.

"I am particularly interested in speaking with people who may have been with or spoken to Debbie in the few days and weeks prior to her murder."

Police are also keen to speak to anyone who knew Miss Remorozo in Oldham through her local Roman Catholic church, St Patrick's, or who knew her socially.

Miss Remorozo left the hospital after her shift at the coronary care unit to walk home, at about 1530 BST on Saturday 7 December.

The following day, she was found dead by friends at her flat in Summervale House on Vale Drive. She had been stabbed several times in the chest.
