Why city birds are shouting to make themselves heard
City birds are having to change their tune to make themselves heard, scientists have found. Town birds are having to sing at a higher pitch than their feathered fellows in the country. They want prospective mates to hear them above the noise of traffic, planes and roadworks. Tom Heap reports.
