Pair charged over skip death

Police and firefighters pulled Michael from the burning skip

Detectives investigating the death of a schoolboy, whose body was found in a burning skip in Gateshead, have charged two youths with manslaughter.

Michael Temperley, 15, died in hospital early on Tuesday after being found in the skip at the Team Valley Retail Park on Monday evening.

A 15 and a 16-year-old boy have been charged and released from custody on conditional bail.

They will appear before Blaydon magistrates on 22 July.

Michael, of Low Fell in Gateshead, was found suffering severe burns in a skip at the retail park in the town at 2000 BST on Monday.

He died in Gateshead's Queen Elizabeth Hospital surrounded by family members.
