Man in hospital after blast
A man is seriously ill in hospital after an explosion at a building site in Greater Manchester.

The 23-year-old from Preston, Lancashire, was injured in an accident at Churchill Street in Glodwick, Oldham, on Tuesday morning.

On Wednesday Greater Manchester Police said he was in a serious but stable condition in Whiston Hospital, Merseyside.

The incident caused a localised power cut and the road was sealed off for a time.

A 32-year-old man from Chorley was treated for burns after the accident at the Royal Oldham Hospital, but has since been released.

The Health and Safety Executive has been informed about the accident.
