A fire alarm found in the flat had no batteries

Firefighters have been damping down at the scene of a large fire in Cornwall.
More than 40 firefighters were involved in tackling the fire at two flats above the Bilbo Surf Shop in Cliff Road in Newquay.
One woman had to jump to safety as the fire spread through a three-storey building made up of shops and flats.
Linda Squires was asleep in her third floor flat when the fire broke out.
Residents moved
She said she opened her bedroom door and saw flames licking the window of her flat.
"I opened the bedroom door and saw an orange light and saw flames licking the window in the top floor of my flat.
"I just shut my bedroom door and rang 999 but got cut off, I thought I have just got to get out of this."
She was not injured.
Emergency services were called to the building in the early hours of Wednesday morning.
Residents living close by were moved from their homes while the fire was dealt with.
Appliances from Newquay, Perranporth and St Columb were called to fight the fire.
Fire investigators are trying to establish the cause of the incident.
They said that although they found a fire alarm in the flat, it had no batteries.
The fire brigade says it serves as a very good fire prevention message.
