Boost for grass roots football
Football being saved by goalkeeper
Pitches and other facilities will be improved with the grant
Football clubs in South Gloucestershire have received a cash boost of more than £600,000.

The Football Foundation announced a £605,052 grant to improve facilities on five sites run by South Gloucestershire Council.

This award follows a grant of £610,000 for facilities in Bishops Cleeve, Gloucestershire earlier in July.

The bulk of the funding will be spent on a modern sports pavilion at the Coronation Park Playing Fields near Yate.

A further eight pitches will also be improved.

Peter Lee, chief executive of the Football Foundation, said: "Over £2m has been invested in Gloucestershire in the last two years, bringing the type of modern facilities to players and teams that we believe the modern game deserves.

"Our congratulations go to the council for the inclusive nature of these projects."
