A man has been taken to hospital with multiple injuries after falling 75 feet down a cliff face in North Derbyshire.

Fire crews had to abseil down Wild Cat Tor in Matlock Bath to Rescue him.

The 25-year-old from Derby was walking up a steep embankment next to the river Derwent yesterday evening when he fell.

He is believed to have broken both ankles, an arm and injured his back.

Fire crews from Matlock had to abseil down to the ledge where a tree had broken his fall.

He was then lowered by stretcher to the base of the cliff to the awaiting mountain rescue team.

The man, who has not been named, was taken by air ambulance to the Chesterfield and North Derbyshire Royal Hospital.
