Man sought in 'suspicious incident'

Police on Monday released a description of a man who they said tried to grab a seven-year-old girl in Northampton.

The alleged incident took place on Thursday between 1700 and 1730 BST in the Kingsthorpe area of the town.

The girl had been riding on a bicycle outside her home near the Fox and Hounds pub.

Police are looking for a man described as white, elderly, and very tall. His hair is greying, and he is clean-shaven with blue eyes and a medium build.

He had been carrying his coat over his arm when he approached the girl.

Anyone who may have witnessed the incident or who has related information is asked to ring Northampton Police.
