Girl, 6, in double 'hit-and-run'
A six-year-old girl had a lucky escape after being knocked down by a pedal cycle, then seconds later by a motorbike, whose rider failed to stop.

Chloe Clarke was playing with friends in the village of Shildon, near Durham when she was first hit by a pedal cycle.

As she got up and made her way home, a motorbike hit her.

The pedal cyclist later apologised to the girl's family, but police say they want to question the motorbike rider.

The youngster was treated in hospital after the incident on Friday, which police have just made public.

A spokeswoman for Durham Police said: "The girl was playing with friends of her own age when she was struck by a pedal cycle.

"She got to her feet and was making her way back home when she hit again, this time by a motorbike, which failed to stop.

"The cyclist later went to the girls house and apologised for what he had done.

"The girl was treated at Darlington Memorial Hospital for concussion and cuts and bruises."
