Two teenagers orphaned in a motorway crash have paid tribute to their parents and younger brother who were killed in the accident.

Richard McCoig-Lees, 15, was with his parents, Martin and Denise, and his nine-year-old brother Ryan as they set off to go on holiday to Florida last Thursday.

But all three were killed when the minibus they were in collided with a car then careered into the central reservation of the M56 in Greater Manchester.

Richard and his elder brother, 19-year-old Matthew, are now staying with family near their home in Ledbury, Herefordshire, as they try to come to terms with their loss.

Matthew, a student at Salford University who was not on the minibus, said both his father and younger brother were avid Manchester United fans.

Martin McCoig-Lees was a season ticket holder at Old Trafford and regularly travelled to matches with the Hereford and Worcester branch of the supporters' association.

He took Ryan to his first home game last year.

Ryan's brothers spoke of the nine-year-old as a mature, popular and happy child.

Denise McCoig-Lees was described by the pair as a proud mother who lived for her family.

In a statement issued by Greater Manchester Police, Matthew and Richard thanked the people of Ledbury for their support.

They have now asked to be left alone to grieve in private.

Police are examining CCTV pictures to try and establish what caused the crash, which killed seven people.
