Police in Liverpool were starting a new beat on Monday - in the city's crown court.
Officers were increasing their profile around the corridors of the court to provide re-assurance to victims and witnesses.
The initiative has been set up for people to feel safer if they are not used to being in court.
Neighbourhood policing issues and concerns the public have will also be addressed.
Chief Constable of Merseyside Police, Norman Bettison, said it will help people "feel safe and supported in what can sometimes be a daunting environment"
