Two people were rescued by neighbours after a house fire in Brislington on Sunday.
A woman and her five-year-old boy were guided out of the house by concerned neighbours after the fire took hold on the first floor just after 1400 BST.
The fire service says the damage to the house in Sunnydean is "extensive", and the family will now have to be rehoused.
Fire crews from Templeback and Brislington attended the blaze and administered oxygen to the victims.
The Red Cross Victim Support Unit also attended.
The cause of the fire is unknown, and is being investigated.
