No one dead in fires - report
Fire engine
The fire service went to 350 incidents
The number of injuries from fires in Jersey halved in 2002, according to the Jersey Fire and Rescue Service's annual report.

Chief Officer Francis Greene said there were just 10 reported injuries in the year, from about 20 the year before.

There was not much change to the total number of calls made to the service - around 2,000 for the year.

Of that number, only 350 were to report a fire and just 24 are recorded as malicious false alarms.

Within budget

No one was killed by fire in any of the call-outs.

In his summary of the year, Chief Fire Officer Greene said he was pleased that the number of injuries caused by fire fell so sharply.

The report shows the service's spending was within its £4.2m budget.

In his summary, he said the main issue of the year was the review of how the service would act in the event of a terrorist attack on the island.
