Town's image set for boost

Developers are planning to bring in a consultant to help them design a vision of the future for a Lancashire town.

The work is part of a multi-agency initiative to improve Skelmersdale's image and increase investment in the area.

West Lancashire District Council, English Partnerships and the North West Development Agency are all involved in the work to boost prosperity for residents.

Once the consultant has been selected they will be tasked to liaise with residents an find companies to invest in the leisure, retail and cultural facilities of the town.

Plans will also be drawn up for new buildings, events and public art to be introduced in to the town.

It is hoped the work will attract more people to go in to Skelmersdale, both during the day and at night.
