Man dies in house fire
A man has died after fire broke out at a house in Lancashire.

The body of the victim, who was aged between 20 and 30, was discovered by fire crews at about 0715 BST on Saturday.

Police were also called to the semi-detached house in Much Hoole, near Leyland, although it is not thought the fire was started deliberately.

A dog was rescued alive from the house in Windgate, although a pet budgie was found dead.

Veterinary care

A spokesman for Lancashire Police said no-one else was in the house at the time of the fire.

He said: "A rear bedroom and the kitchen were extensively damaged.

"The cause of the fire is currently being investigated, but it is not thought to have been suspicious."

The dog has been given treatment and is being cared for by a local vet.
