Lorry gang steal cash machine
A cashpoint machine
The cashpoint machine was ripped out of the wall
A heavy goods vehicle was used by a gang of burglars to rip a cashpoint machine from a bank's wall.

The machine was pulled from the wall of the HSBC bank in Hedge End, Hampshire.

Extensive damage was caused to the building in Lower Northam Road by the theft just before 0300 BST on Friday.

Police say the machine contained "a significant amount of money".

A flat bed, recovery-type vehicle with a crane on the back was seen in the area at the time of the raid.

Acting Detective Inspector Philip Jones said: "An investigation is underway and police have been conducting house-to-house enquiries and a forensic examination of the scene.

"We are appealing for witnesses who saw anything suspicious and we are especially keen to trace the stolen cash machine or the vehicle involved, which may have been abandoned."
