Pilot escapes undercarriage drama

A pilot escaped unharmed after his aircraft's undercarriage failed to open before landing.

Emergency services were called to the scene at Staverton Airport near Cheltenham when the light aircraft's undercarriage system failed.

The sole occupant of the Cessna 337 was forced to circle the airfield at Staverton several times on Friday afternoon.

The aircraft was damaged as it landed but the pilot was able to walk away unhurt.
