The missing man has family in Pembrokeshire
A mentally ill patient who has gone missing from a hospital in the south of England could have gone to west Wales.

Police have urged members of the public not to approach 28-year-old Nicholas Letchworth, who had been detained under the Mental Health Act.

He disappeared from a unit attached to the Royal Hampshire County Hospital on Winchester on Friday and has not been seen since.

Officers looking for him believe he may have travelled to Pembrokeshire.

Mr Letchworth needs to take medication regularly, police said.

A spokesman for Hampshire Police said they were very concerned for his welfare.

If anyone does see Mr Letchworth they should contact us immediately. He should not be approached
Hampshire police spokesman
"Mr Letchworth was last seen on Friday afternoon at about 3.45pm.

"He went to his home address in Twyford to collect his car, an F-registered, beige coloured Peugeot 405.

"He has spoken to his family but we urgently need to locate him.

"If anyone does see Mr Letchworth they should contact us immediately. He should not be approached."

The police are also searching a part of Devon where Mr Letchworth had been surfing in the past.

He is described as 5ft 10ins tall, of slim build with short brown hair.
