Peace activist 'demands' answers
Gaza Strip, Israel
Alice Coy was detained trying to cross the Gaza Strip

A Worcestershire peace activist, who was deported from the Middle East last week, is demanding an explanation for the way she was treated on arriving home.

Alice Coy said she was met by police at Heathrow Airport and was questioned under the Terrorism Act.

The 27-year-old, from Malvern, was deported from Israel after being detained trying to cross into the Gaza Strip.

She had been in the country since January acting as a human shield for Palestinians.

Heightened security

When she arrived back in the UK last Tuesday, she said British police questioned her for several hours.

Ms Coy added that the interrogation was uncalled for - she is now seeking the support of her MP.

Heightened security has become a feature at airports across the UK.

Police are now more likely to question people flying in from countries where terrorists are known to operate.
