Man hurt in pub fight
A man is seriously ill in hospital after he was hurt when a fight broke out in a pub Greater Manchester.

The 31-year-old man suffered serious head injuries in the incident near the Old fire Station pub at Wellington Road in Ashton-under-Lyne.

Police believe the man was assaulted in the pub, at about 1900 BST on Saturday, before the fight spilled on to the street and he was attacked again.

The victim suffered serious head injuries and on Monday he was in the intensive care unit at Hope Hospital, Salford.

Detective Inspector Steve George, from Ashton under Lyne CID said: "There were a number of people inside the pub who may have witnessed this man being assaulted.

"Similarly people outside the pub who were walking or driving past, may have seen the incident.

"I would ask any witnesses or anyone with information to get in touch with us as soon as possible."
