Card conman warning
Police in Exeter are warning people to be on their guard against a con trick which has led to thousands of pounds being stolen in the last 10 days.
The trick involves cashpoint machines being fixed so that when a bank card is put into it, it jams.
The conman then approaches his victim, recommending they re-enter their PIN number to release the card, but the card remains jammed.
The offender can then make off with it and withdraw large amounts of cash.
Fly tipping increases
Conservationists say they are becoming increasingly concerned at the amount of fly-tipping on Dartmoor.
Earlier this year secret cameras were hidden on trees, rocks and bridges at well known fly tipping spots
They had some success at catching offenders.
But conservationists say despite their efforts the moor is still being used as a dump.
Travellers stay put
A convoy of at least 30 travellers with dogs has continued its camp on school land in Barnstaple.
Education officials are trying to have them evicted.
The travelling families first said they were moving away on Friday.
Then they said they were setting up a circus, but are still there.
Patients give hospital top marks
A new survey reveals patients have given North Devon District Hospital top marks out of all the South West's hospitals.
Out of seven categories from waiting times to hospital food, the hospital in Barnstaple scored top marks in six and had only one lowest mark.
The patients were responding with their direct experiences of service last year in a Department of Health questionnaire.
