Shopping centre expansion plans
Plans are being made to triple the size of Blackpool's main shopping centre.

Proposals have been put forward for 15 new shops and a four-storey department store at the Hounds Hill centre.

Its owners have submitted a planning application to Blackpool Council.

If given the go-ahead, the scheme would create 400 jobs.

The department store would be built on the site of the existing car park.

It is thought that Debenhams has expressed an interest in moving in.

The plans also include refurbishing the existing centre, and building a new car park to increase the number of spaces to nearly 800.

The plans are expected to be considered by Blackpool Council in September.
