Woman airlifted after slip
Search and rescue helicopter
A navy rescue helicopter airlifted the woman
A 65-year-old woman has been airlifted off the Isles of Scilly after slipping on grass.

A Royal Navy search and rescue helicopter from RNAS Culdrose, near Helston, was despatched to take the woman to hospital after the incident at Shipman's Head on Bryher.

She has been flown to the Royal Cornwall Hospital in Treliske.

It is thought she sustained serious fractures to her ankle and also has possible knee injuries.

Coastguards on the Isles of Scilly contacted Falmouth Coastguard, who, in turn, informed the navy.

The woman is believed to be a holiday maker from London who was due to return home on Monday.
