Blue plaques are going to be placed around Margate to honour historical figures linked to the town.
Eric Morecombe is among the famous people to have a plaque dedicated to them.
The comedian will be remembered at the Bull's Head in the Market Place, where he held his wedding reception.
Other historic figures to be honoured are Prince Frederick - known as the Grand Old Duke of York - who lived in Margate in the 18th Century and George IV who met his bride in the town.
'Rich history'
Famous artists to have their details put on a plaque include JMW Turner who went to Coleman's School, Walter Sickert and George Moreland who both lived in the town.
Artist Frances Coleman has helped create the plaques which will feature a sturgeon fish based on the
design of the waterfront lamps in Margate.
Councillor Bob Bayford, from Thanet Council, said: "This initiative fits in with our plans to instil community pride across the island and this is an excellent way of making both local people and visitors aware of Margate's rich history."
Blue plaques will also feature details of gaiety girl, Phyllis Broughton, Canon Richard Barham, author of Ingoldsby Legends, The Duke of Cumberland and Francis "King" Cobb who all lived in the town.
It is hoped the historic plaques will be installed in October after the council agreed the move.
