Moroccan bombings shock regional press

The Arab press is horrified by the recent bombings in Riyadh and Casablanca.

However, while Sunday's Arab papers refrain from attributing the attacks to al-Qaeda, Israeli dailies hold Osama Bin Laden's network responsible for the bombings.

Here is terrorism knocking on the doors of Morocco, proving that the terrorists are a bunch of malevolent people who have no genuine affiliation with any faith.

Al-Watan - Saudi

How can they kill women, children and the old and shed their blood in the name of God?

Al-Watan - Saudi

The Moroccan soil, which is rich with forgiveness, discussions and dialogue, will not accept those who choose booby-trapped cars, bombs, explosives, bullets and killing of the innocents to achieve their sick illusions.

Al-Ittihad - UAE

The place is different but the methods have remained the same. Casablanca became the second target after Riyadh to suffer a hideous international terrorist attack.

Al-Ra'y - Jordan

Al-Qaeda may not be behind these bombings. It could be other extremist groups with different names from that of the criminal phenomenon formed by Osama Bin Laden.

Al-Ra'y - Jordan

We can only look at the Casablanca attacks as the latest episode in a long series.

Al-Watan - Qatar

Terrorism is targeting all segments of the Arab world. All Arab people are threatened by the terror outbreak which continues to shift from one Arab city to another.

Al-Sharq al-Awsat - London

Arab people should take responsibility for combating terrorism and the task should not be left only to security agents.

Al-Sharq al-Awsat - London

The explosions which rocked Casablanca have shocked the world community. The Muslim world must take realistic and appropriate measures. To bet on the American methods of combating terrorism is nothing but to add fuel to fire.

Al-Vefagh - Iran

All Muslims must join efforts in combating the dangers of terrorism, rather than taking American directives.

Al-Vefagh - Iran

The selection of Saudi Arabia and Morocco from amongst the Arab countries should be given some thought. This is because both of those countries have specific interaction with America.

Iran - Iran

Both Saudi Arabia and Morocco have tried to cover the fact that these attacks are part of Islamic terrorism by stressing the international nature of terrorism. This is not terrorism aimed at rescuing the Palestinian people from Israeli occupation. And those who laud the suicide attacks against Israel are themselves victims of the same method.

Ha'aretz - Israel

The attacks in Casablanca demonstrate al-Qaeda's determination to make its presence known, and to launch a series of attacks by selecting any soft target, even if it cannot always strike at Americans.

Ha'aretz - Israel

This choice of [Jewish or Western targets in Riyadh and Casablanca] should not surprise anyone and it goes hand in hand with Bin Laden's declared intentions.

Yediot Aharonot - Israel

The fact that al-Qaeda is ready to "waste" so many people, who commit suicide, in order to achieve such a low ratio of victims, points to a large cadre of volunteers ready to carry out these terrorist attacks.

Yediot Aharonot - Israel

The recent suicide terrorist attacks, first in Riyadh and now in Casablanca, prove to the world that Osama Bin Laden's organisation is alive, breathing and kicking - kicking the prestige of US President George Bush.

Ma'ariv - Israel

Osama Bin Laden decided to turn last week into a seminar on terrorism, a clear and sharp lesson to his enemies and to his supporters of how it should be done.

Ma'ariv - Israel

Bin Laden's message is clear - act big to shake public opinion.
