Ideas sought on Maze future
Maze Prison
The prison held many of NI's most notorious paramilitaries
The public is being asked for ideas on how to regenerate the former Maze Prison.

A consultation process on the future of the jail and Long Kesh security site was launched on Wednesday.

The Maze Consultation Panel was set up by the government.

It held a public meeting at the Civic Centre in Lisburn on Wednesday evening.

The prison, which held many of the province's most notorious paramilitaries during the Troubles, closed in September 2000.

It was shut as a result of the Good Friday Agreement peace accord's early prisoner release scheme.

The Policing Board proposed last year that the Maze could house a new police training college for PSNI recruits.

Paramilitary prisoners are now held in Maghaberry prison in County Antrim.
