Breakfast's Mike Sergeant
Mike reporting from Thailand in January 2005
Mike has been working on Breakfast for two years.

He's covered everything from the tsunami in Thailand to the future of ladybirds in your garden; from the melting glaciers of Iceland to the expansion of the European Union.

He's also done stints as a Business Reporter on BBC World and Political Reporter on News 24.

A career in TV news started in 1996. Mike worked for APTV (now APTN) as a global video producer, and then moved on to become the Frankfurt Correspondent for Reuters Television, before returning to the UK.

Viewers of Sky News may remember Mike guiding them though the maze of the internet. He enjoyed a memorable stint as the channel's first and last "e-commerce Correspondent". That was followed by a period as a business correspondent at Sky.

Mike's greatest TV memories include: falling off a collapsing platform during a broadcast from Frankfurt, driving a talking car around Britain, and transmitting two minutes of live rap music in German on BBC World.

Before going into broadcast journalism, Mike received an MA in Economics from Cambridge University.

He was a keen student actor - touring to Russia, Eastern Europe, America and South Korea (by mistake!) ...but that's a long story.
