Multi-storey boost for town
Work is starting on a new town centre multi-storey car park.

Contractors are moving on to the Churchfields site in Bromsgrove on Monday to create the foundations for the three-storey car park.

The work is expected to be completed by the autumn.

Bromsgrove District Council leader, Councillor Dennis Norton, said the work represented the next phase in a multi-million pound partnership deal with shopping giant Asda to improve shopping and car parking facilities in Bromsgrove.

Disruption to a minimum

Russell Crickmore, Asda's store development manager, said: "We're delighted to get this work underway.

"It marks the transformation of the Churchfields car park - providing a massive boost to parking facilities in Bromsgrove town centre."

Work will also start early next month to change the entrance and lay-out of the Recreation Road South car park, and will be phased over six consecutive Sundays to keep disruption to a minimum.

New lighting, a dedicated pedestrian access and spaces for the disabled and parents with children will be provided.
