In quotes: Morocco blasts reaction

Governments around the world have condemned Friday's suicide attack in the Moroccan city of Casablanca, in which more than 40 people were killed.

United States President George W Bush:

Morocco is a close friend of the United States and we offer assistance to the government of Morocco to help track down and bring to justice those responsible.

Spanish Prime Minister Jose Maria Aznar:

No one can be on the margins of the fight against terrorism, and I, of course, want to renew today our commitment to the greatest determination... and the greatest co-operation and collaboration with all those who, like us, face a terrorist threat.

Israeli Foreign Minister Silvan Shalom:

These attacks directly linked to international terrorism. No states escapes them, and those who commit them seek to impose Islam on the entire world.

US Deputy Defence Secretary Paul Wolfowitz:

That they (terrorists) should choose to attack Morocco tells something about their terrible motivation.

Morocco stands out in the Arab world as a country that is making significant strides towards democracy and I think the terrorists are opposed to progress.

They want to take Arab Muslim people backward, but I do not believe that that is where the great majority of Arabs and Muslims want to go.

French President Jacques Chirac:

Such events can only reinforce our common determination to battle without pause against international terrorism.

Russian Foreign Ministry statement:

It is more and more obvious that the "terrorist international", al-Qaeda first and foremost, after its defeat in Afghanistan is seeking to go back on the offensive against the whole civilised world.

The signature is the same everywhere.

German Foreign Minister Joschka Fischer:

The authors and their accomplices should be found and judged before a tribunal.

This terrorist act reminds us that the international community must not relax its efforts in the fight against international terrorism.

Syrian President Bashar al-Assad:

(The blasts) are the work of criminals and apostates serving the interest of our nation's enemies.

Malaysian Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad:

We have said that if you want to overcome the problem of terrorists by killing people and invading their countries, then this is the consequence you have to face.

I am urging again that the Israeli aggression against Palestine be stopped. This is what is angering many Muslims and making them vengeful.
