A man who jumped off a north Wales pier on Saturday has been detained by police.
The man, who had been threatening to jump off the 2,295 feet long pier in Llandudno, dived into the water at about 1215 BST on Saturday afternoon.
Llandudno inshore lifeboat had been asked to assist by Holyhead Coastguard, but by the time the crew had arrived at the pier, the man was already in the water.
He was seen swimming towards the Great Orme headland but resisted attempts by the crew to pull him into the vessel.
A crowd, which had gathered on the pier watched as the man struggled with the three lifeboat rescuers who eventually managed to haul him out of the water and took him to shore.
Alan Sharp from the crew said: "We got up to him in a matter of minutes and pulled him in, which was quite a feat because he was determined to stay in the water.
"We took him to shore where an ambulance and the police were waiting and he was taken away.
"The pier isn't known for people threatening to jump but it has been known.
"Only a few weeks ago someone else was threatening to jump but was persuaded down," he added.
